Black&Brown Skin
The Complaint:
Black people are disproportionately affected by skin cancer due to their lack of awareness, systemic problems and racial disparities in medicine.
The Tip:
By protesting, we alter the agenda and start a debate in order to create changes.
The Solution:
In partnership with the Black Lives Matter movement, we will create the Early Diagnosis Matter social campaign to educate and empower black people to advocate for their skin care and end the disparities that affect them when it’s come to skin cancer.
The Procedure:
- During Skin Cancer Awareness Month in May, the Early Diagnosis Matters virtual protest will take over the BLM social media platform.
By using the hashtag #earlydiagnosismatter and educative posts to create awareness, the campaign’s ultimate goal is to motivate black and dark-skinned people to take action by checking their skin and going to a doctor whenever they notice any abnormal moles in their skin.
